Happily Ever After
Too personal (chorus oldcakes) stuff below, again.
Winnie and Rock (aka Kenneth) got married last Friday and I was one of the groomsmen. My lots of thoughts:
- It's painful to wake up before 7 a.m.
- Rock's hair was sparkling mauve, or violet, or purple, or sexy. Winnie was sparkling pretty.
- While others were decorating the cars, I was given a Lomo LC-A. I gladly followed the principle of “Don't Think, Just Shoot”, until Rock shouted, “What're you doing? Focusing! Manual!” Stupid. Stupid LC-A. (That's why I always supersample.)
- The door game was easy and sweet, except the lethal ginger-in-wasabi. Why must the “food” for door game be awful? Why can't it be jelly, ice-cream, risotto, or lasagna? Why can't we be nice to each other?
- I expected funny moments when Rock made the wedding vow. He did okay, i.e., he didn't laugh. Winnie did say something funny, and everyone had a good laugh :)
- There was a meeting before the banquet and I was there. I ate some cakes, asked for water, got a bottle of water, asked for a glass, got two glasses, and happily shared the water with someone. The meeting? I don't like meeting very much.
- Michael and I were responsible for overseeing the overseeing of the operation of the light and sound for the banquet. Yes, overseeing the overseeing, we worked like government. Only one tiny problem in our bureau: Someone forgot to pick the music for toast. While I was investigating which someone was to blame, Rock's brother pulled out a perfect techno/disco/something-i-dunno in a blink. (I was sleepy and I blinked slowly. Did I tell you it's painful to wake up before 7 a.m.?)
- The banquet began with an amazing entrance of the couple, surrounded by Gackt's Freesia Op.2 (2.7MB mp3). I saw a galaxy of love.
- Winnie was in tears as soon as she's on stage. When Rock thanked the families, I wanted to cry too. No, I was not related. It's probably the magic of Freesia.
- Hans (aka Lee Ling/Sai Tan Junior) wanted to sit with the soprano/alto aunties. So we switched our seats, and I had valuable lessons about reverberation and many other photo/audio/video/musical wonders from the state-of-the-art Wong Sir.
- The chorus oldcakes sang "Stand By Me" and "The Lord Bless You and Keep You". I did sing. Really. I guess.
- Finally, the requisite dumb question, “Are the bridesmaids... ?” Perfect. So were the groomsmen. Really. I guess.
